Pep Boys Road Hazard Protection Plan

When you’re buying new tires, understanding your tire warranty and road hazard protection options help you protect your investment and avoid unexpected expenses.

What's Included With Your Pep Boys Road Hazard Protection Plan

When you buy new tires at Pep Boys, you can get two kinds of protection:

Pep Boys Road Hazard Protection Plan

Optional protection available with purchase for potholes, nails, and road debris - damage not covered by manufacturers

  • Free Repair - if safely repairable
  • Replacement or Pro-Rated Refund - if not repairable
  • Coverage to 2/32” - valid for the usable life of the tire
  • Non-Transferable - applies to original owner only

Manufacturer's Limited Warranty

  • Covers defects in materials or workmanship (varies by brand)
  • Valid until tread reaches 2/32” or the manufacturer’s mileage limit – whichever comes first
  • Coverage may be limited

Why it matters: Many tire failures are caused by road debris, not factory defects. Without a road hazard protection plan, a single pothole could cost you the full price of a brand-new tire.

1. Manufacturer warranty coverage varies by brand and is typically limited to defects in materials or workmanship.
2. If safely repairable.

Here’s what you get with a Pep Boys Road Hazard Protection Plan:

Tire Repair

If your tire can be safely fixed after hitting a nail, pothole, or debris, we’ll repair it for free

Replace or Refund

If it can’t be repaired, you’ll receive a prorated credit or refund based on the tire’s remaining tread depth

Coverage Duration

Road Hazard covers your tires until they reach 2/32” of remaining tread

No Transfer

Coverage stays with the tire’s original owner and ends if the tire is put on a different vehicle

Close up tire tread

Why a Road Hazard Protection Plan Matters

  • Manufacturer warranties typically don’t cover everyday hazards like potholes, nails, glass, or jagged metal
  • Tires can be expensive – especially if unexpected damage forces a replacement
  • With road hazard coverage, you can help avoid significant out-of-pocket costs for unplanned tire repairs or replacements
